A non scientific test, for the sake of Planars, and for the fun of meself Very Happy

All the lenses on tripod, focus on pistil, f/4 because of the last lens, live view, wire remote and being late afternoon small shutter 1/8 or 1/10, iso 160. For sure, with a decent shutter they are sharper than that.
I tried to keep the framing equal for all of them.
Crop 100% for all of them. Didn't touch anything in Photoshop. Straight conversion from small RAW to jpeg.

Contax 50/1.4, f/4

Yashica 55.2/8 ML, f/4

and finally, Mr. mind blowing, Herr S-Planar 100mm f/4
hooked on all 4 Contax rings

the planar 1.4/50 is not doing bad considering that it's an infinity-calibrated lens while the other two lenses are macro lenses.

IMHO you haven't shown these lenses at best, as you can get similar results from a £12 zoom.

Vivitar 70-150mm, 1024 pixels longest edge, superia 200asa no tripod

My so called test, was made, primarly, in order to see the way they are rendering the colors in close focus photography.
And, I can't find any huge discrepancies in terms of colors and bokeh between 50/1.4 and Yashica.
As for the S-Planar, I wont even compare the images, considering that being on rings the true aperture is bigger than f/4 and as a FL it's double.
