I like the idea of focusing on the subject and the light and trying to pull the viewer into the image by means of the vignette used and the black BG. There are a view very well working examples in your gallery (the yellow/orange Day Lilly for instance works very well for me). The one shown shows (visibly enhanced?) deterioration (maybe on purpose) and would not be my preferred selection, just IMHO.

if you need to CS5 a pic of APO Elmarit-R 2.8/100, you are really not a good owner, send me quick the lens and you will be forgiven Very Happy

no need to talk about the lens + camera, both are outstanding!
I'd rather talk about the art(ist) instead of the "brushes" he used...

too.

You can talk as much as you like about the art - but not about the artist Evil or Very Mad

There is no reason to be jealous. The D700 is in the same league like a 5DMkII and the APO Elmarit-R 2.8/100 has a used price between 800 and 1200 €, that means a price level we have seen here for APO Lanthar or sometimes for high end CZ lenses.

And I´m sure poilu has a lot of them in his carbinet.

Rolf is right, I can afford a 1200€ lens
my most expensive lens, Makro-Planar 100:2.8 cost me 450 euros, the same price as my Tokina 12-24
it is a kind of limit I have fixed to myself, like a hobby budget
some members have put this limit at 100 euros, because they have bigger family priority
others members cannot spare more than 20 euros a month, such lenses are not affordable
but they is no reason to be jealous, we all know here that we can get the same pleasure with a Helios 44 than with any other lenses
now for my comment, it was against poposhop manipulation
for cheap lenses, I can understand that some boost are necessary, but not for such top lenses
I am not a expert in art, but I think that Rolf should stay the good photographer he is and not try to be a digital painter Very Happy

You are right poilu, it is not necessary to boost IQ of such lenses with poposhop.

I´m not an expert in art too, on the other side I try to find out few new (at least for me) aspects or methods or whatever. I used these shots for my experiments because these were the newest ones I shot.

It will be not my new style for the future and my way is not to be a digital painter. On the other side you know/we all know that most of the pics we view a day are less or more digitally manipulated.

Few weeks ago I was in a hotel where the hotel manager removed a complete building in front of the hotel in his advertising.

So the question is - was is acceptable and what not. And you can read it wihin this thread. Few members like it, few not and it is like always in life - you ask 10 persons and get 11 different answers.

Have a nice week and happy shooting. My daughter and her husband are at the moment nearby your island (Samos). Here I´m really a little bit envious - when I looked at home out of my window the weather here is terrible.

The 2 offers currently on eBay are more than $1000.
Are you very patient or just a god-damn-extra-lucky-bastard ? Very Happy

It's just that I and poilu started collecting Contax lenses while the prices were lower (in some cases, like Distagon 1.4/35, even half than what they are priced now).
So maybe at the time you were playing with AF lenses and now regret it Twisted Evil Razz (just kidding!) Laughing
