Just found this site and I have been having great fun browsing and learning all I can. Manual lenses were originally my go to because of the lower cost, but now I have to have control of focus on the lens or it just feels wrong.

I have been told by everyone how wrong it is to have lenses not on there native bodies and adapters are wrong and all that nonsense so I have just recently been eyeing 3rd party and older glass other than primes.

My main profession is videography, which my MF nikkor have come in handy with the EOS mount adapter and the filmmaking popularity or the 7D and 5D.

So my inquiry is this: Does anyone know or have experienced lenses with excellent/unique Bokeh and color, with sharpness being important but secondary. Any lens that works on Canon mount/could be adapted. Thank you in advance.

interesting bokeh...as far as I remember right now: helios 40/Biotar 75mm f/1,5, Volna-9, Vivitar 24/2, mir1v, others will probably add more

There's already a thread for lenses with strange bokeh:

http://forum.mflenses.com/viewtopic.php?t=30915

and I'm sure there must be a thread from the past that specializes in simply great bokeh.

Personally, bokeh is the number one priority for me so all the lenses I have are good bokeh lenses. I've pruned *alot* of 135 format lenses lately (spending a lot of time shooting MF) but here are my favorites still in the arsenal:

Carl Zeiss Distagon 35mm f1.4
CZJ Flektogon 35mm f2.4
Voigtländer Color-Ultron 50mm f1.8
Olympus Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f1.2
Pentax K 50mm f1.2 (can't be used with 5D without modification)
Volna-9 50mm f2.8
Carl Zeiss Planar 85mm f1.4
Olympus Zuiko Auto-Macro 90mm f2
Meyer-Görlitz Trioplan 100mm f2.8
Nikon Ai Nikkor 105mm f2.5
Voigtländer Macro Apo-Lanthar 125mm f2.5
Tair-11A 135mm f2.8

Helios 44, examples in this forum.

Pentacon 2.8/135 springs to my mind first whenever bokeh is mentoned. Several versions, some with round diaphragms. Many example photos in the forum.

The first version of the Macro-Takumar has a diaphragm that makes a star shape @f/8,

From my collection and experience:
Industar 61, Helios 40, Helios 44-2, Tair-11.

They have produced the most "interesting" bokeh for me.

Meyer-Optik Oreston 50/1.8, M42 mount (I know nothing of mount adaptibility), both f1.8:
