This was all I had time for before the light went. I really hate winter already!

F2.8, Canon 5D mkii @ 200iso and 580exii with stofen.

Crop

It's a 27xxxxx serial number. It looks sharp and contrasty to my eyes.

Great result (I just got a 7.5cm Trioplan - C-mount that I want to put through its paces too).

But... What happened to the crop? I see strange horizontal line artifacts.

I've also had problems with berries the last time I cropped them (with the 40D). It's almost like banding, and it was quite evident with the Mir-1. Not sure if it's RAW sharpening, lack of resolution from the lens or lack of resolution from the sensor.

Martin - is this the preset silver trioplan or the black automatic one? There's some good seperation going on either way, like it!

Yes, and since when does winter start at the end of August. Confused Summer changes straight to Winter in the UK?

Peter - Try not to drink the same stuff that Graham does!

Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about as I don't see any banding? Edit, yes see it now. No idea what it is, probably CS5. I'll try some other raw converter as I think that's the culprit.

Silver preset btw, but you should have known that by the serial number. Sheesh, call yourself a lens geek! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Winter started in July; rain, wind and today people wearing 3 layers. Snow for tomorrow I expect.

Now depressed!

Oh, that's cruel and unfair. Almost hate telling you it's still very warm here. Very Happy

No worries, my next purchase will be a sawn off to see how it tastes. Despite the depression here's another conversion with canon software.

Depression passes! I am still in the throws of winter rain and cold and snow on the mountains...I have however noted the buds turning up on the trees...spring is coming.
That 2nd crop is much clearer... Very Happy

I am currently in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California, about 200km east of San Francisco. My elevation is about 3333 ft / 1000 m. Temperature today was above 104f / 40c. It was too hot to take my Meyer Trioplan 100/2.8 (silver body) out to play. Bother. Tomorrow will be just as hot, and a dentist will do terrible things to my mouth. Bother. The air is terrible too, here on the upslopes of the Great Central Valley, a vast trough filled with smog. I wish I was back in Antigua Guatemala right now. My Trioplan could have fun there.
