A Nightmare before Christmas

Finally got a Zenitar.

Very cool lens. I found myself tilting and putting subjects in the corners to amplify the bendyness.
Some people think this effect gets tiring after a while, and I must admit after processing them I am actually feeling a little queezy!!

Shot wide open a lot, quite soft and low contrast coupled with ISO 1600 so atmospheric is the idea! Sharpness is not THAT improtant after all.

Comments and thoughts and critiques very welcome.

Thanks!!

I like 9 and 13 above the others.
Zenitar is like Kanel, in the right dose it's fantastic, too much and it becomes uneatable. I use mine very sparsely, exactly in order to not overdo with the effect.
Oh and I love the name of the series Smile

Almost a Salvador Dali effect in some of these, especially the first pic.
The first pic is my fave, has an ominous aggression about it.

I agree, it looks like the bridge is stretching an arm to catch you.

Best word tag for it it would be "lysergic", I think Laughing

My choices too Smile

I keep looking out for a cheap one - again it's one of those lenses I'd only want to use occasionally (hence not wanting to spend too much) but for those occasions...

Hi!
I like the shots a lot - typically "zenitaresque".

And, how much would I like to be in London now!!!

Zenitar can be crap and superb. Quality is not smooth as Nikkor so be careful with cheap ones , buy instead with more expensive but with no obligation guarantee.

Thanks Attila.

I understand infinity focus is often badly set (but can be easily adjusted) are there other quality control issues to be aware of? Looking at the new ones there seems to be a 10 - 15 gbp premium for Nikon mount.

Some of them soft at all apertures that means for me unusable , unsellable garbage.
