Surreal Klaus. Reminds me of the "soft-focus" vaseline effect!

Homemade lens? How?

It is very different Patrick, have a look at the images, the center is much sharper.

I used an old enlarger lens with round multiblade aperture, fitted a quartz lens (f1.0 btw.) inside and mounted that to a focusing helicoid - that's all.

Thanks Attila! It was inspired by remembering when you dream about something
and I wanted to materialize that in my images...

You did solve wonderfully, perfect in my opinion!

Not my cup of tea, but in some of the images, like the fountain, the effect works really nice.

My dreams are the opposite of that. I make hyper-realistic dreams, full of details. Often when I wake up I forget about the overall concept of the dream but I remember the tiny details.

I'm with Orio here. Not my type of photography. But #3 and #7 are the shots that I really like.
And I respect your capability to built and use this lens.

Tastes and opinions are different, especially for these "non standard" images and I respect that of course!

Smile Very Happy Smile + 5

Mind you my first thought was why take a perfectly wonderful camera only to 'LOMO' it? lol

Well, how would I now say that, so I don't hurt any individual feelings .... soft focus photography has a long history in art and quite a few famous photographers (not here on that forum of course and not in the digital area) have used it successfully. I was trying not to re-invent anything, just to adopt old technologies and combine it with modern technology. I was aware that the response would be, well, say mixed at best.

Nice effect with a unique lens

I love most of them, especially #1 an #5. The fountain on the other hand does nothing for me!

I think you achieved the effect you wanted to, as it does have that flashback /memories/dream quality. Thanks for showing us! Very Happy

Bravo. No 1 for me.
-would have been better if there was a person on the boat-imho.

Thanks guys. I find it quite interesting to note, how these different images react with the different viewers and who likes which one and why. This is sort of "emotional photography" ...

Why not just say, "it is always fun to play".
I like them.
My first impression was "is this the dirty-lens effect" ? Very Happy

"dirts lens" affects the overall contrast, soft focus lenses work quite differently
- but to be honest most people don't see these subtle differences... Wink

Nice effects but too much for me. Cool

It reminds me of some too much drinking Champagne nights effects... Wink
