-Sorry for bringing pictures taken with Heliar again but I am so excited Wink

I know it's too much -- but I have made some BW conversions as well ..

There are still remains of magenta hue shift visible but I can not do more at this stage...

BW conversion done in GIMP 2.6.10 for MAC..

Camera 5D MkII ...

Excellent! I like your angles a lot.
The geometric distortion seems very low for such a wide angle lens...

Stan, apart from the Nikon to EOS adapter what else have you done to use it on the 5D ?

Thanks!

1 - perfect adapter - Nikon to EOS
2 - constantly blocked mirror to use this lens in LiveView mode only . i.e. by matches Smile
2 - infinity and axis adjustment - (lens)
3 - each picture requires colour adjustment - i.e. LightRoom..

and patience Smile ..

Excellent however, how did you mount this on a 5D???? Is the Hekiars register not much shorter than the 5Ds?

Thanks

Jules

That's a nice width for a lens - but all those images to upload...... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

The colour shift in the corners is quite bad.
While I could live with the vignetting, the colour shift is a much more annoying issue and such that I doubt I would ever use this lens outside of B&W.

thanks for all comments! ..

@ Orio - I know what you mean. If you use Distagon 2.8/21, you know that PP is so little Smile

but in this case, which in surprise to me - the magenta doesn't bother me too much ...

well -- I am trying to improve this issue but it seems to be a huge problem .. but as you wrote - BWs look good -- there are plenty of details and tonal range is so high. You might have an impression that is not digital camera -- in other words - the pictures have like film character

I am going to post a picture of the lens and how I mount this on 5D MkII . Smile

I am not a photographer -- I am just a 'lens tester' but this lens takes photographs by itself.

These pictures are incredible and your composition is fantastic. Stan, you ARE a photographer, like it or not! Laughing

By the way, this lens has some serious POP!

Shocked Confused Shocked
After all, I think my Canon 17mm tilt-shift is fine...
(It really is)

Stan, is it really worth to spend hours in post processing the magenta out from all the photos (or to limit yourself to B&W) when there is the Samyang 14mm rectilinear which is available, should not have colour issues, costs about the same as the Heliar, and does not force you to lock up the mirror?

This is what I wonder, I have no doubt the lens is good (Cosina makes good lenses), and probably better than the Samyang, but the awkwardness and inconvenients of it's use on a reflex camera seem to overpower the advantages in my very humble opinion.

P.S. I agree with Shrek, you are a photographer!
