Anyone seen this before? The aperture number f/8 is red on this Distagon 25/2.8 AEG: Click here to see on Ebay

I wonder why... Rolling Eyes

(Scroll down, main image is not correct: it's a 28/2.0.)

Some wide angle Takumar have a red f/8, with a red number on distance scale. They are intended to be a snapshot indication, to use the hyperfocal distance Wink

You think so? Seems like a very neat paint job then. Maybe it's just specular reflections off the red paint.

Looks like red paint to me too. Doesn't seem to be quite the same shade of red as the IR focus datum line. Neither can I see why it should be a hyperfocal distance indicator, since there's no matching mark on the depth of field scale. I'd still go with the home paint job hypothesis.

Hyperfocal mark triangle and F8 are in green for my C/Y Tessar 45/2.8.

Handpainted, very poorly. Looks like he/she used a highlighter to do it.
