I decided recently to get a Sonnar 135 to see what all the fuss is about but there seems to be something quite wrong with my copy. It's not sharp and has a massive loss of contrast. I just have a few test shots as it doesn't seem dependable enough to take out. I am thinking of getting a lens spanner to see if it has been dismantled and an element put in backwards.
This is my usual first test shot with a lens, out of the window. The church is about 3.5 miles away. Loss of contrast isn't too bad in this.
It is with this though, the plant is lit from the window behind it.
From what I can see there doesn't appear to be any haze on the elements or a breakdown in coating. Does anyone have any ideas what the matter could be with this lens? |
