The slides look better than these scans which came out a little darker than originals. Reason is: I don't have an IT8 target slide to profile my scanner for Velvia 50 or 100, so quality is not as good as it could be with the Coolscan 4000. Anyhow, for those of you who have not been to México... it is the land where the rainbow sleeps - the land of COLOUR.

#1 - Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF

Afternoon shadow cut lower part of frame. More coming later today, this was just a quick favorite from two rolls. I would have shot more than just 2 rolls of film in Mexico, if it was not for when I forgot 6 rolls of Velvia in the fridge when leaving Nayarit and going to Guadalajara Embarassed

Looks great, I can see what you mean about the scan being darker, but I can easily imagine how shining the slides surely is.

Thank you guys!

I tweaked settings a bit, a little better but still having problems with too dark and murky scan results. Here are some more shots, uploaded to Flickr. For those of you who have not run into these before here are the digital ones from the same trip

Manual focus exposures

Auto focus exposures

Exhibition "Where the Rainbow Sleeps"

My Moleskin notes are erm cryptic and sometimes it is difficult to tell exactly which lens was used, lens is quoted only when 100% sure. These are all shot with a Nikon FM2n on either Velvia 100 or Velvia 50 film (two rolls)

Laughing thank you Attila! You should go there if you ever have a chance, even the poorest house is painted vivid and beautiful. Fantastic country, friendly people.

Only downside from my trips to México is my Spanish and Catalan friends say my Spanish has developed to sound like Colombian (yes) accent, which depending on situation can be useful or not Laughing Laughing Laughing

Laughing I love Latin people pretty much. I had two friends from Columbia South America is definitely worth to visit. Hopefully sometimes I able to do it. My oldest daughter after English now study Spanish and she will go to Madrid in September for half year in University replacement program. They are very nice people indeed.

WOW! These are awesome and make me want to go to Mexico. The colour is absolutely outstanding in these.

The shots with the CZ 85 1.4....do you remember at what aperture?[/img]

This is a bit sketchy... I took these in March/April and my Moleskine notes usually don't mention exposure value unless I deviate from my "normal" behavior of shooting the Planar at f/5.6.

#1 - Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
f/5.6 or f/8

#6 Guanajuato, Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
f/8 for sure

#12 Sayulita, Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
f/8 for sure

#14 Sayulita, Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
reading Moleskine this could also be taken with Nikkor 24-70/2.8G
not sure about aperture

#18 Sayulita, Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
f/2.8 or f/4

#19 Sayulita, Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
f/5.6 likely

#20 Sayulita, Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF
not sure about aperture

very intense colors, nearly looks unreal (Velvia tends to overdue a bit...)

Great captures Vilhelm!

Yes, I agree - Velvia is not for realistic slides, it tends to exaggerate the dominant color channel (be it blue, red or green). Also, the scanner film profile is not optimal. Slides look much better. Another day, more time to sort the issue out...

Wonderful shots. They make me want to go back as soon as possible, but with film instead of a digital point and shoot. My bride and I spent 10 days in Puebla and Oaxaca last November. Beautiful, beautiful country ...

Wow, these are colors!!!

....and about the Velvia, I love the rendering. Crazy film, every time I try to scan it drives my scanner out of gamut.

Good job
