Hi to all.

My son in law needs a 28 mm lens in M52 quite high contrast.

No matter if it's F/2,8 3,5 or 4.

Any suggestion?
Thanks

Rino

OK, I know it's 30mm, but the Pentacon 30 f3.5 as sold with Praktica's is a very contrasty lens. And cheap!

Super-Multi-Coated 1:3.5/28 TAKUMAR
Super-Multi-Coated 1:2/35 TAKUMAR

The Super-Multi-Coatings make for maximum contrast.

I second the S-M-C Tak, 28mm or 35mm.

If you can find some OM lens in M42 mount... OM lens are usually of high macro contrast too, at least the late version that I've used (28/2, 28/2.Cool

Another vote for the S-M-C Takumar 28/3.5: http://www.prime35.com/s-m-c-takumar-28mm-f3-5/

You may also try to locate an EBC Fujinon of similar vintage (great lens! M42, f/3.5), but those are rather scarce and fetch higher than normal prices. Otherwise, your choice of mount pretty much limits you to those two brands. There's also Mir-10A, a 28/3.5 Russian lens, but I wouldn't say it's particularly contrasty (but still nice).

+1 for the SMC Tak 28/3.5. The excellent contrast of this lens makes MF focusing incredibly easy ... Never missed a picture because of bad focusing with it ...

Our fellow member RenseH today posted some interesting samples with the 29mm Meyer Orestegor:

I keep recommending the Mamiya Sekor SX 28mm F2,8. Colours and contrast are just wonderful.

Smc-pentax 2,8/28mm, Smc-Takumar 3,5/28, Tamron 2,5/28 and Chinon 2,8/28 are my bests 28mm for contrast , especially the two pentax/takumar lenses. Very Happy

+1 for SMC TAK, high contrast with no subtlety.
In the opposite way, it seems to me that the Pentacon has subtle colors and a lovely bokeh, (especially nice with a sharp specimen), but I would not recommend it for high contrast results.
