Same Vivitar 55/2.8, sort of a caterpillar, I don't know what kind.
Chime in if you have an idea.

Looks as though it's one of the "Inchworm" caterpillars...

Search for "Lepidoptera Quebec" or "Lepidoptera larvae Quebec" or visit the The Montréal Insectarium website.

Definitely Lepidoptera (butterflies & moths), looks to be in advanced instar stage, nearly ready to spin the cocoon...

I had good luck identifying a local larva by emailing University of California's Essig Museum of Entomology. The curator was very helpful forwarding my request to several eminent Lepidopterists, who with some initial contention(!) positively identified the larva in the very rarely seen 5th instar as Saturnia Mendocino. Two of my photos are now used by researchers around the globe! Here is one

Thank you guys!
@Scott - it's not an Inchworm. It doesn't look like one.
@Sirius - I searched for the Lepidoptera Quebec. No resemblance.
I'll keep track of it because 5 minutes ago, looking at the same specimen ( eating my rose's leaves ) I noticed the head turned yellow. As you can see it was orange.
I'll take some pictures today if I have time.

Sorin, what a dark, moist, little world you live in, but I like the shots!

Since I could only make out the first 3 legs, that is what I based my "inchworm" guess on..I love caterpillar shots as there are so many different varieties. I've got some shots of strange looking ones as well.

24 hours later, as I said the head turned yellow.
f/11, my best macro so far.

This is for you Bill, for accusing me living into that dark world.
No, no apologies accepted. When you come in Canada I'll tell you were to buy the beer or some Aussie cabernet.

No crop involved, just resized. Click on it for the bigger version.
The beauty:

A place to submit photo(s) for identification:

Another place to look up caterpillars by host plant (helps to know exact latin name of rose):
