The leaf shot and BW conversion is from an earlier roll that Walmart did
with roller marks, etc. That one was scanned on Epson 4490, the rest are
CVS processing/scans:

All shots with Micro-Nikkor 4/105 Ai'd lens

The leaf shot looks sharp on my monitor and what sort of music were the group playing as it reminds me of a place in Ibiza where they played drums continously to the setting sun:-

Great ! very nice light and colors on 1st and last. The more i look , the more i notice that film and digital color rendition are totally on a different planet.

who is that, Hulk Hogan?

Thanks for your comments, fellas.

Jussi, this guy doesn't speak English and isn't quite as tall/big as Hulk
Hogan, but he's not exactly little. Laughing He's not there every Sunday, but
when he is, he's the leader of the pack in Latin rhythms.

Excalibur, the music in your youtube is very similar to what they play. The
mix on Sunday changes where there will be islanders from the Caribbean
and more djembe than conga drums and in summer, they will play into the
night. I remember being there one evening where it sounded like they were
performing voodoo rituals. The female dancers certainly enhanced that
perception. Laughing

voodoo, oh my!

that mustached fellow certainly has presence.

i wish my cvs did scans, too. my walgreens' srvice has gone downhill. i think they are letting service lag on their machines ...

The blossom and the last shot for me Bill. What is the blossom?

How do you compare HD and ultramax?

PostPosted: Sat Apr 17, 2010 6:00 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Paul, hope you find a better place for processing.

Ron, I don't know what blossom that is, maybe pear or apple (?)

The big difference I see with the two films is that Jussi (Nesster) likes
Ultramax but not HD. I offered him a 3-pack of this expired stuff and he
all but spit in my face saying he wouldn't want it even if it was brand new.
It took almost two nanoseconds to get over my hurt and disappointment,
but I forged on. *Laughing It looks like tighter grain (maybe) and more contrasty
punchier colors for the HD. The price on a 3-pack is $12.99 for HD, pretty
much a deal killer for me. When it's on sale it is $9.99 at CVS and is only
offered in 24exp rolls.

* a loose description of what was said...lol

Laughing Laughing Laughing Yes, I was poorly treated by a tri-pack of HD a couple of years ago, and the wounds are deep. HD and Fuji's consumer 400 speed film can go miscegenate in some vat somewhere, as far as I'm concerned. I'm a delicate northerner, more a 400H kind of reserved and tight-assed fella, not one of these high everything plastic-surgery HDTV-chasing jolly boys. Or so my Meyers-Brigs tells me Laughing

The muttering you hear is my cursing when others get such good results out of these films. I mean, far be it that I might be wrong about this.

And, I just put Ultramax on notice too, the Kroger seemed better with the ZX-L than the Kodak... Rolling Eyes

Jussi, if you get a line on some Ferrania (which is what the discontinued
Kroger's film is) LMK. This could include kidnapping Orio. I really like Ferrania film! Cool Laughing

Orio, the problem is the lighting at night, just street lights and to catch the
action to where it isn't a big blur will take ISO 3200 or 6400 film. Or a
noise-free DSLR in those ISO's. They are not allowed lit fires and torches,
either, in the park. I wonder why not... Laughing Some of the dancers had these
electric wands or batons that made circles of light that was kinda cool.

I've seen some shots with Neopan 3200, but they were quite grainy.
