The famous Zeiss Mikrotars 30/4.5, 45/4.5 and 60/4.5 were also triplet lenses.

It's said, that triplet lens cannot be APO corrected, but Trioplans performs better, than many modern 3-4x more complex lenses in terms of CA.

I also like the bokeh of 50/2.9 when stopped down a bit. It's super-smooth and without any artifacts.

Great images, thans poilu Smile

it is lens who use special elements to reduce chromatics aberrations
the apo test show that this old triplet perform better than many expensive modern lenses
brand like Sigma use APO for marketing even for lenses with lot of CA
Voigtlander APO-Lanthar have great CA control but are not cheap
someone with limited budget can find many old lens with good APO performance

Oh yes.
I get it. I have a Sigma 70-300mm Apo "Macro" DG (for Apochromatic I think ?).

Thank you, Poilu.
