Lucca is a nice place, unfortunately often flooded with tourists. Did you take shots of
the oval place too?

I like very much the first one from San Gimignano! Now if only you could move a liiiiiittle the black point, just to reveal a bit (not much) of the little boy's face... _________________ Orio, Administrator

Very nice series, #3 is great, when i am in an old "piazza" (square), i always try to find some kind of structure to include into the picture, a statue, a volta...and so on. Really nice work.

Thank you all for the friendly comments . Orio , I tried before but not very happy with the overall result too washed out : The firs one has still the blacks too darken to see some details on the face :
a second version :
The light was very difficult ,and the angle too .There I would need a little fill in flash .but that kid was not to be there so the setting was prepared for the landscape .I even remember , I nearly slipped a curse when that little guy enteren in the frame ,just when I pressed the shutter The position was very inconfortable ,and I was not alone ,not to mention my disc hernias !!!so I could not wait very much to clear the frame .It was crowded with tourists .
In any case I have no flash for the NEX _________________ Cheers , Teo

You are right, altering black point for the whole image makes it too bright
This is one of those cases where localized editing would be needed.
You can not be blamed for not using flash even if you had it
This type of snapshots are not predictable, you have to take the snap the moment it appears to you
then adjust possible problems in darkroom like also HCB used to do _________________ Orio, Administrator

In fact the first second version , where some face can be seen is a mix between localised editing and levels .Localised editing only on LR doesn't works .Too dark .
At least , this shot demonstrates what these cameras with mobile screen and life view can do .They allow shooting from angles that with a conventional DSLR are almost impossible (ok, i know , thre are angled viewfinders ,but not the same thing). The camera was almost on the ground level(2-3cm) tilted up . Vivitar 17mm/3.5 f was 5.6 or 8 I suppose. _________________ Cheers , Teo
