as the 5DII should need longer lenses than a crop, I try the contax 80-200 with doubler to check if it is usable
I think the biggest problem is CA, this one is at minimal focus distance, I will try at infinite
1600iso - 1/1600s - f5.6(=11)
whole frame
crop
100%

it is the Mutar I, it is not a recommended combination but the Mutar II is mechanically incompatible with the 80-200
http://www.zeiss.com/C12567A8003B8B6F/EmbedTitelIntern/MutarI-II_2x_e/$File/MutarI-II_2x_e.pdf
results are better with the Makro-Planar 100
http://forum.mflenses.com/doggy-style-t25053.html
I was trying the mutar and when I see the funny doggy scene I removed the doubler
finally I select the mutar pic who is better than with the planar alone
because it start to rain, light fall down and I could not get acceptable shutter speed anymore
I had to retire but the young couple didn't stop action |

Well, teleconverter + tele zoom is a difficult combination for sure.
The results are ok but I am unsure if it would really be better than using the 80-200 straight and cropping the picture.
I am of the impression (but I have not tried) that with the 5DMkII, the simple zoom + image crop might be better than TC+zoom. _________________ Orio, Administrator

You know that the first shot almost equals on my screen a 20x30 cm print.
This is absolutely fantastic!
Some years ago, nobody would have seen any problem in this shot, really.
A 100% crop of a 5D MkII picture? Can you imagine how big such a print would be?
I guess, we tend to forget that when we judge on photos we take nowadays. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!
