Contax G to m4/3?

Is it possible? The Contax G system has a lot of cheap but superb glass, too bad the system was short lived.

It should be possible.

Registration Distance:
Contax G: 29mm

FourThirds: 38.7mm
I think m4/3 is 1/2 FourThirds so: 19.35mm

Assuming the above is correct, than it should be possible to make an adapter.

Contax G lenses have an obstacle, that the mount on the camera turns the aperture ring to make it match the writings on the barrel.
Without this trick, the aperture will work just the same, but the barrel writings will not match the aperture values.
Anyway this is minor I think - if you could really make an adapter, it will be successful, as the G lenses are amongst the best lenses ever made for any camera - so much that Leica M users buy them to have them expensively converted to the M mount...

Will be keeping an eye on this. If you are successful, I would be looking for a micro 4/3.

As the lens (Contax G lens) without modification, you cannot adapt
these G-lenses to any system since there is no way to focus these.
They are driven by internal motor of G1/2 camera and its focus is
electrically controlled, the lens does not have manual focus ring. Crying or Very sad

UNLESS you supply helicoid in your fancy G->m4/3 adapter, it is hopeless.
IF you can make it in this way, you may be able to sell lots of adapters. Very Happy

that was my next plan ... make a helicoid/adapter with changeable plates.

That is a good news, Alex. Go for it.

I buy one when it is made, even tough I have no m4/3 camera (yet). Very Happy
(I wanted to use Hologon to digital camera, but conversion and the lens
together is fairly expensive so far.)
