I was told that this lens would kick the 55/3.5 or 55/2.8 AI/AIS micro-
nikkors, but seeing is believing!

Smile I already forget that , sorry! Hard to believe available better lens than those Nikkors.

The one thing that strikes me immediately is how smooth the bokeh is
along with how sharp the subject is in focus!

I don't think there's a bad lens in the Zuiko OM lineup.

Yes, Olympus lenses always had a great reputation, at least here. In Italy, in the Seventies, Olympus were the lenses that normal people could not afford. Normal people used to go for Canon FD or Nikon, also very good lenses, but Olympus were reputed to be a step above, don't know if true or false.

Not in every case true, but this one above similar Nikkor lenses I am sure. This is the first Olympus lens what I have what is above on Nikkor competitors.

I've seen that Zuiko 50/3.5 go for more than $250 over here. But I also
missed an auction where it went for $105! Mad

Look at those pics that Simon (spkennedy3000) takes with that wide
angle Zuiko on his 5D, awesome stuff.

In any case don't forget that when shooting with macro lenses bokeh is very often better than when shooting with normal lenses. The extremely closeup distance makes everything else on the background completely melted together.

Oh, nice buy, you also got three brand closeup lenses, those are not cheap.

Seems like a perfect buy for your tank photos.
