That is almost sure the Leica M39 screwmount. Only usable on cameras with that mount and micro 4/3 cameras I believe.

Do you have an link to the lens in question? It may be a 39mm mount. Some are for SLRs and some for rangefinders. If the latter, you would not be able to focus to infinity.

For micro 4/3 exists an adapter for M39 LTM. Registerdistance of micro 4/3 is 8mm less then Leica LTM, so infinity focus should be possible on G-1.

Here is the lens in question. I have purchased it as it was a very good price. They are £309 new and i got this one for £180. It's as new with box and all paperwork here in UK. I read up on it and looked on Flickr and it is a damn sharp lens!!!! Can't wait to try it.

The image of the bottom does not give much detail to which adapter i need.

This is an LTM rangefinder lens.
Andy I highly recomend that you purchase a Leica M to m4/3 adapter for your Pany.
The use of RF lenses is the prime reason to own a m4/3 camera IMHO.
With this particular lens you would also need a ltm-m adapter. A very inexpensive part since you will not need a fancy one matched to a particular M camera fir framelines.

Thanks all.

This is the adapter i bought, is it the right one? do i still need an LTM ring?

I don't mind getting another adapter at all if this is wrong. If i should still get a 'M' adapter and the LTM ring then that's fine.

BTW what does the LTM bit mean?

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

And with cams with Leica M-mount (Epson RD-1, Leica M, Zeiss Ikon...)

Excellent lens. Good price. Congratulations!

LTM has a diameter of 39 mm and a thread pitch of 26 "turns per inch" = 25.4/26 mm. It is sometimes called M39. However M39 is also used to describe the early Zenit mount which is 39 mm x 1 mm. Attempts to mix the two threads may cause damage.

I have ordered a Leica M39 adapter so should be the correct one. I will be very careful however!!

Thanks
