This is the fourth time I come back to these pictures and I'm absolutely impressed about colours and bokeh. Wonderful!

is there a relationship between this lens and the tamron 90 2.5?

I was wondering about the same thing. It's a curious coincidence of focal lenght and unusual minimum aperture.

NO.

Thank you all for the kind and flattering comments.

There are at least five lenses from the same period as this one and I believe they are all unrelated, but magnificent macro lenses:

Vivitar 90/2.5 and 105/2.5
Kiron 105/2.5 and 2.8 (also re-branded as Lester Dine for dentistry)
Tamron 90/2.5
Tokina 90/2.5

The Tokina is supposed to have the most pleasing OOF and the Lester Dine is supposed to be the sharpest (as it would have to be to photograph teeth Rolling Eyes ).

Well, this speaks volumes.

I have all above lens and I used for a short while Nikkor 105mm f2.8 AIS I sold Nikkor because was the most expensive one and I had to get some income. In this focal length I like Kiron and Nikkor, I like more Nikkor than Kiron but difference little really. Currently my favourite macro lenses are Nikkor 200mm f4 and Olympus OM 50mm f3.5. I not use much Tamron SP 90 that is great general purpose lens too with excellent macro capability. Oh I almost forgot the reverse mounted Pancolar 50mm f1.8 , that is the trully macro lens Smile
