Yesterday I visited the nearby small airfield with the kids - and my old 350D with Jupiter 21 and Mir-24M. Weather changed within minutes, so there are very different light conditions.

1. T6 airshow, all with Jupiter-21M:

2. A french double decker from the 20th with Jupiter-21M:

3. Antonow with Mir24M - 100% pure russian Wink

No way! Wink Very Happy

Great pictures, Michael!

No.4 could be taken out of a movie! Even the colours look like it.

Nice shots, like travelling to the past, real World War II ambiance.

Best regards,
Jes.

Really nice pictures, especially the T6 while it's landing.

Great shots Michael, especially the panned shot of the French biplane. Considering the size and weight of the J-21, I think you have much greater skill than me with this lens. Was the camera tripod-mounted?

No, Peter, I didn't need a tripod. As you can see on the T6 shots I had problems, because even using f11 the exposure times are to short to get the propeller in motion.
Two years ago I've shot the same airshow with a modern af-lens. It was a disaster, because the AF always tried to refocus and was to slow. This year I took the Jupiter 21M using hyperfocal distance and was able to point and shoot. It was much easier as before, and the weight of the Jupiter was a perfect image stabilizer for the panned shots during start / landing and in the air.

I would LOVE, someday, to go for a ride in one of those old Russian biplanes. You don't of course see many around here--the northern end of the state of Idaho

I guess the world will never run out of Texans, or whatever they are called abroad

You didn't find anything with a Bristol "Jupiter" to shoot, eh?

Michael, I'm a bit paranoid about vignetting at the moment Smile Some of your shots have it and not others. Assuming you used the 5D, has it been caused by one of your lenses, or did you add it later?

Sorry for confusing Wink
There is some vignetting from the lens, but most of it is post production.

The third is awesome, it looks like a slide from a Technicolor movie

Salutes to Lightroom. The "direct positive"-Preset is a good starting point for further post production.

No, but that would be a perfect combination Wink
We have a small company with two Antonows here in the area. They are jumping from airshow to airshow making money with small round flights over your homesite.

By the way, someone recognizes the price for being a guest at a acrobatic flight on the sign on the first T6-picture? 230 Euro for a short amusement... Wink
