Hope you guys aren't getting tired of shots from the mountains of Canada yet.. Embarassed

Here are two shots from this morning, I went out to one of the lakes and hoped to catch the sunrise, well I got a pretty good one.

Enjoy

"Realm of the Living Dead" (2 shot pano w/ Elmarit 35mm)

"Chasing the Night" (single shot w/ Elmarit 35mm)

Really nice, especially the second one.

I'm envious of the scenery. Here in Houston, we have miles and miles of FLAT. It gets so boring after a while.

Oh, great looking pics, by the way.

A question if I may...how does the camera/lens handle the cold??(and the photographer!)

PostPosted: Sun Nov 29, 2009 2:57 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Some battery dependent cameras can fail quite quickly when it's very cold. My old Canon A-1 wouldn't even last a half hour in freezing weather. I have yet to subject my Canon DSLR to very cold weather. I suspect, though, that modern cameras, with their higher-capacity batteries, probably fare better.

+1 Outstanding! Keep them coming if possible!

Thanks guys, I am glad to hear you aren't tired of them Laughing

Well to answer your questions, I haven't seen any issues with my camera and the weather so far. Last year I was out for a snowshoe trip with my wife in -30c and it was still ticking after a few hours after of shooting.. It would seem that the photographer suffers a touch more than the camera in this case. To clarify though I do use a battery grip so that may help a bit with the extra juice..

Will have to wait till next week to go back out, but thats the plan. I will post more when I get some more.. Very Happy

A request if I can......see on the 2nd photo on the left hand side of the mountain is that the sun starting to strike the top? Do you think you could get the sun on it fully or just touching it?? I hope I am not asking the impossible or being demanding just curious of the full effect of the suns rays on it.

Outstanding! These are extremely good captures and I echo others in saying "please keep them coming!" Smile

I'd like to see these larger in the Oversize gallery.
The standard size is really punishing for them because the subject is very distant and becomes very small to see.

They are indeed outstanding and many of us love them. Keep going. Orio's suggestion is a very good one

I will see what I can do for you Orio as far as larget shots go in the other gallery Smile

Mo-Fo, acutually yes the sun did do a better job colouring the peaks, but I unfortunately was running back from the location of the first shot, so missed most of the good light.. Rolling Eyes I will see if I can't get lucky with better light another time (perhaps this upcoming weekend).

Shauttra this is in Kananaskis Country in Alberta Canada. The closest major city is Calgary (my home town) which is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from this location (depending on weather and traffic Razz )
