Yesterday I made a short, half day trip to Mantova.
The city was almost deserted, only some tourists, very few locals, most shops closed, probably a lot of people still away for summer vacations.
I had with me the 5DMkII and the Contax Distagon 2.8/21 and 1.4/35, plus the 100-300 Vario-Sonnar which I didn't use.
Here's my photodiary of the day:

I can publish in a larger version if someone is interested, some of the Distagon 21 files have quite impressive detail.

quick description:

#1 to #5 : Palazzo Te
#7 to #12: piazza delle Erbe
#17 #18 #21 #30 #31: piazza Sordello
#19 to #21: inside Palazzo Ducale

note that in the place portrayed by#20, Agnese Visconti from Milan, wife of Francesco Gonzaga duke of Mantova, was beheaded in year 1391 at the age of 23, under false accusation of adultery. In fact she was not able to give the duke a male child, and fearing to lose the descent, the duke decided to get rid of her and get another wife. Divorce skills were not much refined then.

#26: the house of Rigoletto, the person who became the protagonist of one of Verdi's most famous operas
#28 #29: one of the three lakes around Mantova
#34: the monument to poet Vergilius, who was native of Mantova

Nice area and very nice lenses and pics. My fav is #6.

Must look at Google Earth where this village is. Ah I see, not sooooo far away from Verona.

Looks like it was very hot

Indeed, a camera is magic in your hands, Orio! What a wonderful set.

I am curious: what is that in the distance, just right of center, in #29?
Are those bridge towers?
