Hi guys,
I've been here for awhile and a Pentax fan!
You may have seen my current contingent of Pentax gear below and I have just recieved a relatively new K10D today!
Long story short, the autofocus system "shudders" and does not focus. Tried on two different lenses. Manual focus confirmation is spot on.
F/W is 1.3
Basically, if anyone knows of the issue and a possible solution, please let me know! Thanks in advance
Edit: Oh, it has 1300ish clicks and peeeerfect for manual focus... _________________ Pentax K10D "Grand Prix", K10D, and *Ist DS

Is this problem in both AF modes?
I would try first leaving the battery out overnight, and put it back fully charged the next morning. If the FW is not a fresh loading, I would suggest to put the file on a card and load it yourself.
Otherwise...don't know how to help _________________ Pentax Bodies: K10D + D-BG2 | MX |

Yup, in both modes. Focus Confirm works fine though.
Will try that, then probably send it away to get a quote. Thanks for the reply though!
The camera is like new and I'm delighted with it _________________ Pentax K10D "Grand Prix", K10D, and *Ist DS

Please clarify what you mean with "shudders". _________________ Peter - Moderator

The motor throws the focus one way then the next, the focus throw is relatively small, depending where the focus was.
If the focus was at 2ft it would throw the focus to 3 then 1 then 3....etc.. kinda like a shudder. _________________ Pentax K10D "Grand Prix", K10D, and *Ist DS

The camera still releases the shutter in MF mode, and the pictures have good focus?
Sounds like an AF motor issue _________________ Pentax Bodies: K10D + D-BG2 | MX |

So I take it that you've bought this K10D second hand at a cheap price??
And the reason it was being sold was because of that problem? |
