Today I received ,at last ,my Nikon/Nex adaptor , so , I couldn't resist and gave a little tour in the city old center .I was curious if this combo can be used for handheld night city photography . I tried to avoid as possible the motion blur ,so I shot at 1/80 mostly ,and used ISO 1600 , for a first try even if I think I shouldn't be shy with the 3200 . Here are some first images , mostly wide open . I had to PP a little (raising exposure around 0,5-1 ,applying NR ,some slight sharpening )I shot RAW because I wasn't shure about the light , but the Tungsten setting was OK.

such a nice lens and very good results.

Feeling is pretty amazing I think to walk at such a light condition and we still able to capture result like this, which is excellent.

Today I did use parallel my Sony NEX and Panasonic G1 in crappy light conditions, I really won't take out much G1.

ISO 1600 is really useful on the NEX, and your samples are really good.
Very well composed, and the light and colours have been caught in a realistic way.
Easy to imagine to be walking through those places. Smile

Regards.

Thank you , rbelyell ,Attila ,Jes !
I am pretty satisfied for the beginning , indeed ,with the results in that light , especially handheld .Probably I have to know better the lens ,and even the little NEX . I will try to repeat this shooting these days ,using the lens on tripod ,to compare the results . Of course , It should be much better ,but I am not a tripod fan ( I still I am sorry after my Sigma 30/1.4 for these handheld night snapshots ) .
Here's another one taken in front of the former Photo/Audio store from my childhood and youth ( here I lusted about the Praktica cameras

Laughing )

Thank you , Klaus and Peter !
About the "nice paceful looking place" this is the old city center of my hometown . Or better ,what remained from it , after the criminal action of the comunist municipality ,wich destroyed around 30-40% of the historic center , in order to "modernize" .This "opera" was continued by "forgetting" to strengthen and to renovate these buildings from XIX century and by transforming it in a slum .They moved the commercial and administrative center away ,and let the old one to die slowly.
Now , thank God, they renovated a part of the buildings ,and moved away all the "fauna" that didn't make a very friendly place this area in night time .

Now , a shot taken at f4 with 1/20 in anti motion blur ( ISO 6400 ) and postprocessed

the same , at 1/80 shutter priority wide open focus on the moon (as in the first one) 1600

Quite surreal, I would say.
Interesting.

Laughing Exactly !
Very strange looking this deserted old town .It shows especially in night time ,during the day there are some rare people passing by , and the shops are open.
But belive , me the zombies are not much more dangerous than many of the inhabitants of these buildings in the last 20 years . Now , that they moved from the area , it's deserted but at least it's safe and strange (good for photos ) Laughing

Your photos are enjoyable so thank you for sharing them.
I have always been intrigued by this lens and would happily hear about high definition results at low isos on the whole frame. If you could upload or send a link to some of your pics it would be nice.
Is someone using this lens on full frame? A7 or Nikon body? I am interested since I have repeatedly red that the lens has a strong reputation. I regret the Nikon rotation focusing but that is just me.
I used for a while a Mir 1b with same focal length and it was a fine lens on APSC format if stopped down to 5,6 at least for nice coverage. Colors were very nice though.
