hi everybody
i was wondering if some one can give me some advice.
i recently received a 2X canon extender that i want to use on my
canon 70-200mm f 4.
with the extender mounted on the lens goes to f 8 (so no AF and no focus confirmation).
i was wondering if a katzeye focusing screen will be helpful (at f 8 )
here in romania it cost 100 eur so i don't want to spent money if its no good at f8 (i also know that they have a optibright version of the screen but the one that i found is without optibright) .

Thanks in advance

Best regards
Catalin

No, at f/8 it is not helpful for me.

I've heard that taping some of the pins allows the AF to function. Sounds risky though so I take no blame if it goes wrong.

thanks for the reply Orio

@martinsmith99 I have tried this with some tape but is not working

the odd thing is that i have recently buy'd a CZJ 135 triotar f4 and the af confirmation is working even if it reaches f8 with the extender

thanks everybody

At F8 my focus will confirm and also somtimes at F11. I'm not sure why, but I suspect that auto focus will not work past F5.6, but the AF confirmation may do. Have a go at MFing with the 70-200 on and see if the AF will confirm focus.

@martinsmith99
that is what i was trying to say that with the 2x and the 70-200 i don't get the af confirmation as i do with the triotar
