Well, the service shop called, and it seems that my Helios-40 will come back on Wednesday, together with the Mir-20M (the first had fungus, the second a broken iris).

The Helios repair alone costed me 60 Eur (sigh), but there was no way that I was taking chances on such a beautiful lens, which is almost as old as me (the lens is made in 1962, I have been born in October 61).

The lens was taking great pictures with the fungus also, but it was worth making it cleaned now that it was just beginning. I will report about the quality of the service. Maybe there are other Italians who can be interested.
I will also post some images.

You know, I have lost money on this. The merchant (an Ukrainian guy who lives in Italy) had offered to take the lens back or have it cleaned by his technician. But I have preferred to pay the servicing and have it cleaned by somebody that I was told is very good. My main goal was to save the lens.

Actually she is called Melissa, but I always loved the name Miranda, which means "wonderful" in Latin and also makes me think of my Shakespeare's favorite, "The Tempest".

Actually Miranda means "admirable".
Don't know why I wrote "wonderful", guess it's symptom of the aging. Sad

Smile funny, sometimes I would say A and I say B I thought the first time might be too heavy weight lifting the cause or my age. My wife is 10 yrs younger and she has same symptom sometimes. So don't worry about friend this is happen with almost everybody.
