Hi,

nothing special but only a sample how good the old lenses perform.
I know I know .... not the same view and not the same cam but 20 € vs 500 €

CZJ Tessar 2.8/50

SIGMA 1.4/50 DG HSM

Apples to oranges of course, but I always prefer the old lens' ones Smile

By the way, is there a 50mm f/2 Tessar?

Indeed. But at this size I couldn't define a winner.

I can as the whites are a lot more subtle with the old lens, while the higher contrast of the new Sigma "burns" out a lot of detail there.

The sigma is no slouch though, I've seen some REALLY great portraits with it that rival Zeiss and Leica. It also seems to be completely usable wide open which is quite rare for a 1.4 lens.

I don't see that, I can see details in both shots and burned areas in both shots.

And then, how can a lens be responsible for burning out whites?
Isn't it the chosen exposure that is accountable for this?
