P6 lenses on Contax 645

I'm thinking using the P6 lenses on my Contax 645 (low money for Contax lenses right now). I found on ebay some nice P6-Contax645 adaptors and I think it could be a good idea.

The problem is that I don't know very well these lenses and I don't know which ones could be good and with good price/quality relationship.

I'm using my Planar 80/2 right now but for portraiture I'd need some longer lens and maybe one wide angle for another kind of situations.

What do you recommend?

For portraits with Pentacon 6, nothing can beat the Sonnar 2.8/180.
For wide, the lens to look for is the Flektogon 4/50

My experience is limited to the a few of the "Russians". I'm not sure that it will be of much use to you since I used the lenses on an APS-c crop camera. The crop factor, going from the 6x6 P6 format to APS-c is >2 for the horrizontal FOV and nearly 3 for the diagonal. Also I tended to shoot almost exclusively at f/8.

However FWIW : Mir 38b 3.5/65 - very sharp at f/8 but much softer wide open; Vega 28b 2.8/120 - very sharp at f/8 and respectable at larger apertures; Volna 3 2.8/80 again sharp at f/8; Vega 12b 2.8/90 maybe softer than the Volna 3; Kaleinar 3b 2.8/150 - too heavy to use hand-held on a regular basis. If I remember the review correctly there can be quite a lot of sample variation for some of these lenses.

Quite a few people on the forum have published samples using these lenses.

I may sell one of my two Sonnar 2.8/180
But the lens is MC and excellent condition so I would sell for right price (not cheap).
If you take a zebra (non MC) you can find cheap prices. Always ask seller about the aperture, good rule with all CZJ lenses. Aperture is their's Achille's heel.

Ask about aperture to know if it has any kind of problems on the ring, blades, etc?

I have almost all variants of P6 lenses, you won't disappoint any of them.
+1 for Orio.

Yes, unfortunately aperture mechanics in the last period of Carl Zeiss Jena (that of MC lenses, 1970s and 1980s) are crappy build. Ask specifically the seller about the working condition of the aperture mechanism and do it via Ebay's messages, not via private email. This because if you do it via Ebay messages, in case of a problem and consequent dispute, Ebay can retrieve the messages.
