I have for sale a freshly serviced Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 1.5/75mm (in Exakta mount), the razor sharp slim type, Attila favours so much.

Service has professionally been done by Kamera Service Görlitz, since I have been very happy with them. They cleaned + freshly lubed it, adjusted/replaced the aperture blades and adjusted for correct infinity.

(I have three such lenses, in case you would like to know why I sell it.)

Inquiries directly at postmaster@macrolenses.de please!

Cheers,

To buy this lens + a used Olympus body with Exakta adapter is cheaper and immediately solution than M42. Personally I never seen any from this lens with M42 mount. Lens is rare or very rare itself in Exakta mount too only a few one showing up /years on Ebay.

I agree. I had two alu copies. The M42 one was much more expensive and in much worse condition, than the Exakta. I sold the nice Exakta copy, because I couldn't mount it on my Sigma DSLR in non-desctructive way and retain the infinity focus, but I think infinity focus isn't really necessary for portrait lens.

has anyone tried one of these on a Canon 5D2? i've just sent alex a msg, but are there any suggested exakta to eos adapters to ensure infinity?

thanks!

I did.
(well mine is the fat type, but it shouldn't be relevant for the lens mount)
The lens is marvellous on the 5DMkII.
My previous adapter was a pain, it did not lock the lens. Now I am using a new type of adapter which locks the lens perfectly and reaches infinity, it also has the FA chip. I talked about it here:

This lens is not meant to be mine. Someone quickly grab it.

Well, I had that Gailardia still here I made a few shots of, so why not mount that Biotar 75mm and see if it is really that sharp...

full size (10Mp) just resized (much detail lost actually)

So, is it?

Difficult to say at this small size. I notice something fuzzy going on, the image does not seem very clear... maybe high ISO?

Guess you're right, a really miserable lens which I should better keep for myself!

Why this sarcasm?
You asked for an opinion about sharpness.
You provided a small image from which it is impossible to evaluate sharpness.
What I see from your image is some fuzziness especially in the center of the flower.
This may of course be due to a high ISO, but I can not know from sure from your small image.
If you have to take this way a comment, why ask for a comment? Just keep the image for yourself, or post it without asking for comments, or even better, post it specifying that you don't wish to receive comments.
