Hi, relayer
I made a search for your vivitar 28/2.0,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivitar
I realized reading the link that the Vivitar 24/2.8 is the Tokina!!!!!!!!!
So, there is Vivitar 24/2.8[Tokina] and 24/2.0 [Kiron]...... _________________ My flickr___ My Wix___ RailPictures |

I had one of these with my Canon F1 a while ago - it was the only non-Canon I had and the difference was always apparent when shooting colour slides. It was sharp, covered well when stopped down to f8 or smaller, and seen on its own really gave no cause for complaint - except for some flare when shooting towards bright light sources. But it lacked the "rich" quality of the Canon lenses.
The I got a Canon 24mm in a deal and the differences really showed up. Much better coverage, far less flare. Canon lens 9 points, Tokina lens 6 points. But, as value for money the Tokina was really good. If you use it with APS-C size sensor, you'll lose the indifferent edges and corners, so the real difference comes down to contrast and tonality over all.
I suggest, "Buy it if cheap, but if you want top quality then pay extra for the Canon". Especially if you plan to use it on full frame. _________________ Stephen

I just found that one, and I am very happy with it! Guess that they are not really common. |

What are you using it on? I've used mine on my 40D and it's impressive. On my Spotmatic it's even better. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

Yes, but it's not a 1:1 macro lens of course.
Here's an example:
