I have only one hood, it is for wide but it was ok
With a 58mm you have to use your foots so I selected a target and follow it
all wide open and cropped, last 8 was at 1/8000s and overexposed

I read that the 50:1.2 is more difficult to convert, how will you adapt it to the 5DII ?
I didn't wait much from the 58:1.2, results surprised me and I will use it more now that I find that a hood make it much better |

I found the same information! The 50mm seems to be hard to find and even harder to convert. I'm lucky because I bought one already converted to EOS bayonet.
It's good to know you were surprised by the result. These Rokkors seems to be amongst the best 50mm lenses ever made.
I already test a lot of them but my usual 50mm used to be the Planar T* 50mm f/1.4.
Supposing you already tried one, how do find the Rokkor compared to it using large apertures?

it is not fair to compare a old Minolta with a newer Zeiss with T*
the Zeiss is much sharper wide open
sharpness is not so important wide open but focusing is more easy with the contax
I get the same speed/aperture at 1.4 than with the 1.2 (my rokkor is still yellow and need more sun)
T* is of course much superior
Rokkor have more CA but nothing alarming
Zeiss can have bloom in extreme lightning, Rokkor none
Rokkor give certainly more blur, combination of wider aperture and longer focal
the 2 lens are top performer; I don't have used the Rokkor enough to decide by how much the Zeiss is better |
