I decided to make a selection to see how it performs.
CA - none
Fringing - none
Distortion - OH, MY GOD!
prone to flare -- it would be better to use D 4/18 against the sun
Colours -- amazing ZEISS
3D -- possible
Sharpness -- no comment
APO like performance -- 99.9 per cent in my view.
I tried different situations, distances and light conditions
PP in Adobe LightRoom --
note:
my laptop collapsed last week --
it took one week to get it back on track..
all preferences gone -
I am not sure about the calibration my monitor:
the colour temperature may not be balanced very well.

Yes, the only enemy of the Distagon 21 is flare and disortion in some cases. Received my Hood W-1 last week and I will try it soon. _________________

Thanks guys!
@ Magnet - I saw some guys walking with a chunky cameras (I guess they had the D3 or D3x) with BIG BIG lenses on them..
I think 5D Mkii with D 21 is a 'compact' combo
and also Distagon 21 is NICE GUY -- looks like inexpensive lens in comparison to contemporary lenses for Canon or Nikon --
THEY are HUGE!
But I must be careful anyway...
