Hi, this is my first post so I would like to introduce myself in a short sentence.

My name is Rolf and I´m living with my familiy nearby Bochum, Germany.

Since I retired as a General Manager of a large Electronic Company I can spend more time for my passions - travelling and taking photos. A special aspect within this hobby is to collect old cameras and lenses.

Today I like to show some pictures shot with a Canon 5DMkII and a Super-Takumar 3,5/135 which I bought some weeks ago in unused condition. The location is an old moated castle nearby our house.

Thank you for viewing and any comments are welcome.

You're welcome! There was no mistake, it's just that the forum engine blocks links from new posters to prevent spam. I can see that you're now approved by the moderator as your images show up in the first post Smile And congrats on your new lens - it's capable of real wonders when coupled to a full frame body.

Nice photos. I've always liked the 135 f/3.5 Super Tak!

Were you at Etretat in Normandy on yout avatar's shot ?

How do you find the 5D MkII ?

I can comment on the 5DmkII part, too Smile

The camera works much better with MF lenses than any cropped one. Metering is always correct (finally! even when I stop down MF lenses, metering is still correct), blown highlights are much less likely even in harsh conditions, and the convenience of Live View allows 100% accurate focusing for critical shots.

As to MF glass itself, lenses produce just the picture they were designed to produce on the 35mm frame. I mean, say, 85mm lenses can be focused closer when shooting portraits, which produces a different rendering as opposed to focusing them in 3-4 meters, and the shorter focusing distance is always just the optimal one for them (that's certain for Helios-40, for example, as it quickly loses its wide open sharpness with the distance).

@ Oliver

Hi, thanks for your comment. We like the Normandy, especially the area around Bayuex, Port en Bessin, Omaha Beach etc. It is a very nice area which unfortunately win notoriety in the last century.
Last year we spent some days at Le Havre and so Etretat was a must. Where are you living in France ?

Regarding your question see aoleg´s post. I started several years ago with the 5D and the new one is really an improvemt notably the LCD with the very high quality and the 21 MP sensor. This sensor allows cropping without losing quality so there is no need to change lenses.

Aolleg and Rolf.

Thanks for your comments about the 5D MkII.
Did you need to change your PCs because of the 21MPixels files ? Laughing

Rolf, I live in "Pas de Calais", near Boulogne sur Mer.
I worked in Normandy 10 years ago near Caen and knew well the area you're speaking about.

Very Happy

@Oliver

nice area as well. We spent sometimes a longer weekend at Calais or Le Touquet-Paris Plage as well.

No, I have no new PC, I´m using an IMAC 24" and I have 5 Terabyte storage within my local network. Additional I have a pro account with SMUGMUG and there is also unlimited space.
