Just wondering what would be a good slide film to try the first time. I'm
looking for both 35mm and 120 film size. The local ma and pa place
where I have my 120 color film developed, also does slides in both
35mm and 120.

I used to love the Agfa because it was the more balanced but now it's gone
Having to choose between the Kodak and Fuji can be difficult for me, as none of them satisfies me completely.
For portraits I would choose a Kodak Ektachrome, maybe the 200 ISO because the 100 ISO is too saturated IMHO (risk of ham-coloured faces).
For landscapes I would go for the Fuji Provia.
For still life and macro (and for your fishes), no doubt, the Fuji Velvia, preferably 50 ISO if you can find it.

For the first shots the Fujichrome Sensia 100 is not bad either.
And it's pretty cheap. But you have to like the Fuji-colours. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Thanks, Carsten, and welcome back! I don't have any objections to
Fuji-color of the ones I've tried. I'll look for this.

Yes, true.
Something I could never really manage to do.
I don't know, I have my love affair with Germany not only for the lenses but also for the film. For me there is no slide that could beat the very cheap, very common Agfa 100. So neutral colour rendition, no colour cast at all, good saturation without being excessive.
Fuji slides have a lot of detail but sometimes it seems impossible to get rid of that greenish cast in the shadows. They can really kill a portrait or an interiors shot. For landscapes I admit they do great. _________________ Orio, Administrator
