What an amazing image! How tall is the waterfall?

Based on this enlargement I can guess that the lens delivers a lot of detail and "presence" - a winner for sure. I love fast 35mm lenses. Well, actually, who doesn't? Smile

Just a wild guess, but 1/30th of a second at f/5.6?

1/13 @ f2.8 and handheld. Very low light in these forests.

I'm a sucker for slow shutter and this is a marvellous scene, very nice!

I just got myself Nikkor 35/1.4 AIS for EUR 290, which (to me) is cause for a little celebration Very Happy Can't wait to be able to post some samples myself

Andy
It's on the road from Roseberg to Crater Lake/Diamond Lake. There are several waterfalls off this road, but each is a short hike from the road, usually less than 1.5 miles. Easy hikes (or I would not do them). Each is signposted on the road, and they are all buried in beautiful rainforest.

Excellent shot, very nice.

So often one sees shots of this lens wide open ("dreamy" "glow and suchlike). It seems to be a very different lens once stopped down a couple of stops.

Thanks Katastrofo and Chris.
Chris you are quite right, it is as though everything suddenly comes into focus at around 5.6. Love this lens

My wild guess was Horsetail Falls in the Columbia Gorge. I guess I was WAY off the track on that one! Simply a superb rendition Patrick. The color, the clarity, the shutter speed and comp are breathtaking. What a great enlargement this could make if you were so inclined.
