accidentally get this lens with the rather cheap price. Cosina 135mm F2.8 nikon mount... I have plans to change back into mounting m42 ... may have friends here that have a sample pic of this lens ... I hope this is one of the best lens ...

NO too much chance, Cosina can make superb lenses and crap ones too. Unfortunately labeled with Cosina mostly crappy.

Would it be fair to say those labelled "Cosinon" were the better lenses?

If we see Cosina make Carl Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses against these lenses Cosina and Cosinon crap really. If we compare with average lenses also weak I had Cosina made Yashica 135mm that was also a crap lens. Jesito had a Cosina lens junk was also. I don't know any other , these were enough to me.

Didn't Tomioka design some of their lenses e.g. 50/1.4?

That is doesn't matter who designed if not targeted for quality just for mass amount to sell cheaply.

In my experience Tomioka lenses are same than Kiron , Tokina etc.
