I cropped this image, but perhaps it didnt need cropped.
In any case I was testing a new lens I purchased on ebay (Pentax SMC 1.7)
I was intrigued by the old bridge, the old building, then the contrast of a new parking garage in the distance.
These were hand held and a bit tough to focus because the wind was a bit stiff.
Cropped
Actual view.

The cropped version is better. It concentrates it on the bridge.

That was my thinking when I cropped the image, but in retrospect the water seems to lead the eye toward the scene. |

I guess light could lead the eyes to the bridge... morning or evening light which is charming and dives the bridge into a soft light. Then you could forget about the water connection. But if the water should lead it to the bridge, then i would go down to ground or even down to the water height with the bridge in the upper part of the image. But then the connection to the parking center could be lost... it's not easy. But it's fun to try and find out.
The parking garage is the red/brown building on the right behind the bridge?

yep, thats a new building in the back. right behind the old sector.
The lighting would be very tricky here. first problem. this was an overcast day and the second problem is Im surrounded by taller buiding which tend to block much of any daylight.
The sun would rise directly behind me and set right behind the garage. My timing was off and the weather wouldnt permit such a sunset shot. I may retrun to the spot and experiment.
I was sitting at the waters edge on a walkway built for tourist. |

Maybe they will let you store this picture in that building behind the
bridge. Just kidding, and in the right lighting will make for a nice
subject. Please post if reshot, thanks.

Would you object if I played with the cropped version of this? I would post the results in this thread only and if they are objectionable to you then I would delete it. _________________ Big Dawg |

Yep, this a very old rail bridge.
As stated in earlier post, I may return around sunset on a nice day and get some better pics.
Thanks for taking a look. |

Is this kind of picture called retro?
On the original question, I think the one with more water makes bridge look lighter. _________________ MF: Kodak DCS SLR/c; Samsung NX10; OM-10; Canon T50
