Well, I was trying to take some pictures -- ISO 100 and long exposures ...

Thanks to my brother for providing his 5D Mk II..

So, there are only TWO things to be worried about: -- distortion and flare -- it's visible on one picture

This is a small gallery of pictures taken at Winchester Cathedral -- very nice subject and also Winchester is the ancient capital of England.. Smile

I didn't do an exposure fusion and also my stand is a crap -- I need a better one.. Smile

Some adjustments done in Adobe LightRoom and then a few clicks in Photoshop..
I think they are not the best ones.. Smile

congrats Tf!
the 100% crop are deceiving, not for resolution but for textures who look ultra jpged.
The files are 20Mb and should be perfect, have you checked your workflow.
I believe 5DII can do more otherwise it is time to use some film to really enjoy this lens

So the Distagon 21 didn't hit the 5D MkII mirror... or did you shave it?

I see what you mean. I see this type of course pixelization in the 50D images too sometimes. I think it is related to the new type of DIGIC processors. I never had that with the 5D and never did with the 400D.

Maybe Tf used jpg instead of raw and digic made his 'magic'
On the Sony sensors, some noise reduction are made before the raw and are awful @100% but I think the Canon files are still untouched
Or the noise reduction are not at 0 in the raw conversion software
I expect perfection from a D21 and Tf samples are badly 'digits'

No shaving of the 5D Mk II mirror is required for any Zeiss lenses I have got ..

Well, all pictures taken in RAW mode. The conversion might have been affected by my processing Smile

I will try it again and send one example once again...

@ Orio -- I have heard about people they returned their 5D Mk ii and went back for old 5D -- it might be a reason for that ...

It is amazing, though some shot (3-rd one) does not seem to have depth, i mean not DoF.
I love the second shot best, very good.

here's my conversion. I used the first file because it was more exposed to the right so I could recover a better dynamic range.
My contrast style is a bit different from Trifox's (who shoot with minimum contrast), I prefer to use more contrast even if it means to lose a little at both ends of the histogram. It's an aesthetical choice, not without drawbacks.
I also changed the white balance to a value that would fit better my taste. For the rest, I did not make any postwork except resize, so if you notice differences in the image quality of the 100% crops (posted in the Oversize Gallery), they are only due to the different RAW conversion program. I use Breezebrowser Pro:
