On friday my Jupiter - 37A arrived (135m f3.5) so Sunday I had a play (I see from the gallery that Peter had similar ideas!). Sorry no time for 100% crops.

1. (around fCool

2. (around f5.6)

3. (around f8 again)

4. (f11 - sorry not as floral!)

5. (f4 ish)

Seems a good performer, possibly a tad sharper than the Tair11A but not quite as nice rendering.

Lovely colours from this lens again Richard, I especially like the blossom with the blue background. Do you have the Nikon mount? It woul dbe interesting compare the "rendering" of the two lenses side by side. (Keep an eye on the Gallery).

You must have had warmer weather than us - we have only one solitary daffodil and no sign of any blossom yet. Maybe it's because we live at high altitude up here in the Chilterns. Smile

Thanks Peter - both the Jupiter37 and Tair11 are A Mounts, so I swapped the M42 ring for the outer part of a Nikon T2 mount on both.

I keep meaning to do a side by side test of lenses, as well as the Soviet 135's I've got two Nikkor's.

We've had Daffodils out in sheltered spots since the end of December, although the bulk of them are only just coming out now. I'm barely above sea level though Smile

Yes an ornamental menber of the Prunus family - it's in a sheltered south facing spot but is very early this year.

Beautiful Richard. The Jupiter is a nice lens and I agree with you about the Tair - but both are very different in their rendering. Love the post box - red is very true.

Thanks folks - yes the colours are very strong (unadjusted) yet true. I think it's a lens that will grow on me the more I use it.

Did you ever see Orio's shots with the J-37AM? I can't find them now, maybe he can post a couple. Anyway, that's the reason I bought mine, and it's certainly grown on me! :

Here's some I took during Christmas 2006 in Piacenza. All taken with the 400D:

No, and in fact some of the photos have a slight motion blur.
