It appears that Sakar is going to revive the famous Vivitar Series 1 lens line. Read the story here:

http://www.dcviews.com/press/vivitar-v8025.htm

This includes an 85mm f/1.4 aspherical lens and a 650-1300mm preset lens with T-mount. I don't know, this lens reminds me of Samyang from Korea (maker of Phoenix and Polar lenses IIRC). Either way it is interesting news because this is the manual lenses forum after all Cool

Here's the Polar 85mm f/1.4. I think you can be 100% sure Vivitar is going to sell this lens.

I'll hold off until we can see if the quality is there...The older Series One line was excellent until the early 80's, but then went downhill...Looking at Sakars site, it looks as though they are going after the consumer market, which means only average glass (the top price point was only $399) so, I'm not expecting much from this

Yes , it's interesting. We should wait one year and try to get it second hand Wink
I think I will drop them an e-mail perhaps they lend me a copy for testing.

The 85mm/1.4 certainly does look interesting! Here's a test report with pictures (in Korean which cannot be translated because all text is in the pictures):

I think it looks really good given the price point. But then I don't have such a fast medium telephoto lens to compare it to. I'm hoping to get the SMC Pentax-FA* 85mm f/1.4 in a few weeks but not if the differences are small compared with this Samyang.

I sent to them an email , let we see his answer. I have plenty of 85mm lens to compare ...

That Polar is made by Samyang. Here's a listing showing the Samyang & it looks identical...Click here to see on Ebay

It's indeed the same. Some test shots with the Nikon mount version (scroll down to see them):

It's truly hard to make this judgement now. lets wait for some real comparisons.

Yes, it (the Pentax variant at least) has the A setting on the aperture, so you can use all available program and metering modes with the lens.
