Thanks I've yet to find a way of reducing the originals for display that doesn't leave them looking soft and muddy. Reducing the pixel size still leaves the file too big to upload at maximum quality, so I've had to heavily reduce the quality to upload. _________________ Richard

I find that 85% to 90% JPEG conversion done with Xnview
(free tool, www.xnview.com) gives me good quality with reasonable sizes and faithful colours that other tools such as ACDsee don't give (I feel that ACDSee alters colours during JPEG conversion). _________________ Orio, Administrator

I love this shot for the calendar Richard, it captures exactly the English countryside in the dark, misty days of December.
Here's a quiz question - who knows what is being grown in the field in front of the building? The location of the picture where Richard comes from, plus the strange-shaped things on top of the roof give the answer. If you live (or have lived) in UK or Ireland you probably know the answer to this, so please don't give it away - this question is meant for others. |
