Hoy, very nice shot.

I have never really tried B&W mode in dSLR,
it inspires me to do it.

Warms my heart Orio. Very Happy
I can see that she really is a happy cat.
A truly Super capture.
Can you tell us how the filters are set up for the B+W in the camera.
I use those on mine and am quite happy with the results.
The Green especially for human portraits is quite successful for me.
Very Happy

I will tell you a secret Koji. Smile
Since my eyes and brain instinctively look for colours (and I can not avoid it), I take with me the DSLR also when I go photographing a B&W film. My main problem with B&W is, I am good to see if a photo could work well in B&W after I see it on the screen, but BEFORE shooting it, I can not see it, because my eyes are always distracted by the colours.
So I basically use my DSLR as a Polaroid: I set it to B&W and take test shots in B&W that I watch in the display, to decide if a certain scene will look good in B&W or not. Rolling Eyes I know, great photographers never do this Rolling Eyes Laughing

Thanks Andy. I set no filters. Just plain B&W. I'm not very keen on tinting monochromes. I only (sometimes) apply some VERY slight platinum tint in Photoshop when I feel it could enhance a photo. But most of the times the standard B&W does it best for me.

EDIT: I now understand that you mean the filters to put before the lens! I was convinced you spoke of the in-camera filters. Rolling Eyes
Yes I use the filters in front of lens but for B&W film only. Yellow-green is my favourite. Better if yellower than greener.
