Camera is EOS 50D (the lens does not work with the 5D):

I experiment a new format, first the resized images for overview, then the full size for checking detail (in this case the full size is small as it's SRAW2).

Please let me know if you find it useful for evaluation or if you don't care. This format takes much space.

Greats captures!

I like the performance of this lens. Especially at short distances, which seems to give more sharpness.

I have a copy of the version Zebra. Which version you believe that was the best performance?

Fantastic!
It is incredible that this lens performs so well.
But then, my copy ("aus Jena") is also not bad at all, so I should have known. Wink

Wonderful shots, Orio. You really deserve your good reputation!

WOW, Orio ! That's marvelous .

I might have some suggestions :
Take a camera , load it with B&W film, a 50mm lens and go at the same place as the first photo from this series , on a day/time without big contrast (not strong sunny day) and less crowded , use a portrait mode with the two light pillars simetrically diposed the on the sides of the image, but entirely in and wait until an old couple appears (preferabbly n the middle and not too close jut enough to see that that there is an old couple - faces are not important), or a man reaing a newpaper ... or... now I'm imagining to much. However it's agreat place for great photos. Also this one too http://www.oriofoto.net/temp/tessar_2.8-50-50D/slides/50D_Tessar_T_2.8_50mm_04.html but the whole town for which I congratulate you. Smile Just my oppinion.

I find your new format very useful. The pictures look even more impressive in full size.

Cheers!

An excellent set Orio. I'm sure it's more work but your new format is very revealing.

Yes, this format is really useful, Orio.
And I agree to the others: excellent shots!

very nice set Orio. I wonder what a side-a-side comparison with the (highly acclaimed) f3.5 would show...??

Sweet! It's just a shame it doesn't work on the 5D, as I really prefer the 50mm FOV MUCH more for "just walking around" than I like the 75-80mm FOV that you get with a 50mm on a crop body.

thank you all !
In fact this lens surprised me, I thought it was worse after some test shots here. I have three copies of this lens, I first planned to sell them all, but I guess I'll keep one now Smile

@ Cosmin: I see your point about the old couple Smile But I think the young students in the Remembrances Boulevard (that's the name) with the autumn leaves make it an unexpected contrast and a bit anticonformist Wink

@ Klaus: yes it could be interesting to compare the lenses. I think they give very different results. The 3.5 has a lot more 3D, but the 2.8 seems more uniform in quality in the corners. Both have great bokeh to my opinion.

Apparently the new format is appreciated, so I'll try to keep it (at least until I run out of space) Wink
