Just acquired for $20. Seems pretty good to me. I took these this afternoon walking in our local park. He had a harem of 5 - 6 females:

what great captures!! Lovely.

Taks are very good lenses aren't they?
I only have two but both I have are very good. And I have seen excellent samples from many others.

These are great results.. and great captures too...

Some how this lens is very notorious in terms of optical quality (very different from other taks.. bad CA, not so sharp.. but again, this all is second hand information... I never bought this because of these reasons...)

But your copy looks great.. show some typical test shots..

Thats not correct. The 150 is no worse then 135/3.5.

I don't know why the 4/150 is not as famous as other Taks.
This 150mm lens doesn't go for cheap money on German fairs...
It seem to be a respected lens by dealers.

My guess is that it got forgotten because of the 135/3.5 and the 200/4. Suppose people did not have one of each focal length before. And it's too short for a long tele and too long for a medium. So people bought the 135 or 200 instead. Qualitywise there is nothing wrong with it at all.

I agree.The 150 is a good compremise between the 135, 180 and 200. But the people didn't prefer this compromise, but have the 135 AND/OR the 180/200.

In my counrtry from 60's never was a good seller lens. Interesant for some, but few bought it.

I have one 135 and I like the 150 too, but in F/4 I can buy a cheap 200 mm. For whom not have a 135 lens, it may be OK. Well, a compromise lens that compromised a few.

Greats shots. I really like them

Rino.

The full size jpg's are on my site at smugmug (moniker "patrickh"). I had read that the 150 was very sharp and for the price it was worth a gamble after the 135/3.5 and 35/3.5 which I have. It acts as a 240 on my 40D and so I have to be careful with handheld (not as steady as I used to be). I think this lens easily rivals the other two for quality. This was literally my first attempt with the lens and I was out looking for fall colours (which are not here yet). All in all I think it will be a bargain

I have one of these that I bought thinking it to be a 135mm f3.5. (It was cheap, in a camera fair, I was in a hurry etc etc.) I have not used it but had heard that it was not as good as the 135mm. Based on these picks that is wrong so I will need to get it out an dgive it a go. As I now mainly use digital I find it much easeir to test such lenses
