Was working bees in our back yard the other day and put out some capping I'd trimmed off the comb for the bees to clean up. Here's some shots of them enjoying their work. Very Happy Taken with K20D, L A Dine, and Dine point flash.
Arvin

The Neat-with just a little honey on her back, cleaning her tongue with her front legs.

The Messy-this is going to take a while to clean up.

The Glutton-wades right in up to her knees.

The Greedy-wants what everybody else has got.

Bees are great animals they not attack you except in same cases, my father had in past. I was always so close for them , summer time in swimming dress only. I had no problem with them at all.If you know they daily habit, they are very safe.

Thanks for the comments. Bees are really not just "stingers with wings". Very Happy The great majority of the time stinging is the last thing on their mind. They were focused on food at this point in time. With all that honey there for the taking when I took these shots, even scooting a few of them out of the way to rest your hand to steady the camera doesn't upset them. Here's a couple more just to show the bigger picture of where I was taking the shots.
Arvin

Bees on top of the frames when the hive is opened.

Not really a great shot, but the "big picture" view of the cappings of honey where the bees were when I took the pics.

Naah... bees are fascinating creatures. I lived almost in between bees. North India has both small as well as big ones (called African bees also, become famous after Brazilian experiment in '50s).

The small ones, which you can find mostly in northern hemisphere (atleast in US, hoping same with EU too), are not aggressive. Usually, these dont sting and usually doesnt attack in group.
The bigger one will make attack by roman empire a kids game. Those are not just dangerous in terms of attack but can be fatal too.

First about me, Some people body doesnt react to bee sting. ANd I was one of them Wink. I literally used to put finger in a hive to check whether that had homey or not. I remember sipping so much of honey as kid, till my father Mad come to know about this. Embarassed. Bees used to sting me, once I counted to 15 sting on my body, just little pain... nothing else. But I never tried the bigger bee hive.

As I lived in Agricultural university, we used to have access of bee research farm. The chief scientist of bee research, was good friend of my father. He told us that bee sting is very helpful in arthritis condition (Dont take my word fully). He used to help in giving the sting at the joints to some people (not for money, usually to very close friend and family members). Once his wife and some of her friends went there (my mom was also with her). First sting was given to his own wife at knee. And believe me, within a second his wife almost went into coma. And the guy just fainted saying, she couldnt be saved. She was taken to nearby hospital within few minutes, luckily, the hospital had anti-dote available (again, that was agricultural university hospital, where snakes, spiders, bees bites were common.. so anti-dotes were usually available.. dont expect this in any developed country.). That guy (my father's friend) told after that, "if bee stings at particular nerves, you have only few minutes to give antidote".
