Thanks for posting this great picture! This reminds me to use my Takumars more often (I have most 55/50mm Takumars in my collection).

Hi Francko, can you please remember in future that the maximum width for pictures is 900 pixels. If you want to let people see a larger image you can either post a smaller one with an embedded link, or post it in the Oversize Gallery.

I've resized your picture with the embedded link.

Thankyou

PS I like your pictures - is your lens the SMC or S-M-C version?

Francko, Very nice shots. I really like the first dog one.

By the way, I have a question too guys.

What is the difference between SMC Takumar 50/1.4 and Super Takumar 50/1.4?

OK, in total there are 5 different versions of this lens. Your SMC is the last screw-mount version before Pentax introduced the K-mount bayonet fitting. I have the Super-Multi-Coated version that immediately preceded yours. I don't think there are any optical differences, just the focus and aperture dials have a different grip design. Technical info is here:
http://www.aohc.it/tak03e.htm
If you want to check your Super-Tak, the Asahi part number is usually stamped on the rear side of the Auto-Manual switch lever.

Except for the very first version (No 358), all the Takumar 1.4/50 lenses had the Thorium element that causes the yellowing. We had a discussion just a few days ago about curing it:
http://forum.mflenses.com/my-first-shot-with-super-takumar-50-1-4-t10771,start,30.html

Does that answer your question Koji? Smile SMC is a more advanced coating than Super-Tak and both the S-M-C and the SMC versions have the added lever for open-aperture metering with the Spotmatic SPF and ESII cameras.

Smile Because I can't seem to get as good definition with my lens. I'm not sure if the problem is my eyes or maybe there is a fault such as a de-centred element. It is difficult to get the AF-confirm beep with my lens, but my eyes are getting so bad too! Thanks.

It's really hard to have the right focus @ 1.4
too much light enters in =)

Just look the photo without zoomin in too much ehehhe

Thank you, Peter.

Yes you did, grad to hear that my SMC Takumar is relatively new one. Very Happy
Actually it looks modern, has a shinny metal rubber focus ring.

Well, lets turn the tables and ask you what version you have Smile. I am very statisfied with the S-M-C one that I got from you. It works well I think.
