It's a good shot - the commentary has to happen to make the shot worthwhile. A society that does not have a cultural imperative to protect its weakest will be doomed to fail as well as morally destitute.

I personally would consider a success for my social theme photo to raise a social/political issue. You seem disappointed. That seems strange to me.

Having that said, you shouldn't expect to post a photo like this on a public forum and not raise social/political comments. If you don't like this to happen, then you should post flower photos instead. Rolling Eyes

People have the right to comment photos posted on public forums. You have the right to disagree, of course, and you have the right to express your disagreement, but you don't have the right to decide which comments are appropriate and which are not.

Agree wih Orio. Photos like this need a context to be presented. One could search for more examples and portraits of poverty, misery and homelessness and make an exhibition. It would not be of any interest, if the pics are taken with manual focusing lens or mobile phone or point and shoot cam. But I do not like political discussions on internet at all, they often tend to be exaggerated. I need a real person sitting in front of me for that.
btw, the pic is a good snapshot.The scan shows some interesting scotch tartans in the darker parts.

just my 2 cts.

What you like or not that is your personal business, this is a branch of people from all over the world we have political interest naturally. I won't see here a bunch of silly people who can talk only from sharpness and composition we are not that ...

thanks for your post, picture like this just show us how this world is in all aspects..

somebody has everything --
somebody is working 16 hrs a day just for a glass of dirty water

I have been to these countries:
USSR
Czech Republic
Slovak Republic
Poland
Hungary
Yugoslavia
Austria
Italy
Turkey
South Africa
England (recently)


unfortunately I can compare both sides --
I have visited premises they cost milions (pounds)
I spoke to people they are very happy if they can get an easy job..
or they have nothing.

I can compare what some people can have and some can not...

Have you ever visited countries of Central or East Europe?
How many countries across the world have you ever been to?
Did you have any informations from these countries from the period between end of the 2. world war and 1990?
Do you know what the cold war was(or is)?
Do you know somebody who lives there?
