I waited for an appliance repairman all morning. He called about noon and said he had tire trouble. Thats good I needed a break anyway. It started raining hard outside so I decided to stay in and work on aquariums. I haven't taken a single fish picture since probable May, so I snapped a few.

The Dovii family. The male is about 6 1/2" maybe 7", the female about 6" and the babys are 3/4" to 1". They are in a 180 gallon tank. They had just had a meal of bloodworms.

CZJ flectogon 35mm 2.4 lense
At f/5.6 f/8 to 16 would have been a lot better.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the kind words.

I'll have to put the yashica 50/1.7 on and give it a work out.

Superb! What kind of camera did you use? I've got some flek 35, but on 350D not so good as your pics.

Very nice pictures Smile Makes me wanna buy fish!... seriously (can't have much else since my wife is very allergic to animal fur).

The DX? It's a nice lens, do you like it? Smile I'm just about to write a review on it together with Yashica J-7 as a contribution to the "$50-dollar film camera"-challenge.

Really impressive. What amazed me was the illumination, it couldn't be done better. What did you use?

Having fish is a lot of fun. You wouldn't want to start with these though. These are the baddest of the bad. They can grow up to 24 inches in an aquarium. The biggest one caught in the wild was 41". They have teeth like a dog with a big set of canines. However they are good and gentle parents, defending their young fiercely.

My yashica is the ML. Very sharp with nice colors a little different from the Zeiss but very nice.

Thanks Alessandro.

I have home made softboxes of various sizes for the aquariums. I use a 580EX in each end with RC triggers. I usually have the flashes set from 1/4 power to 1/2 power depending on the depth of the tank. It works great just about every time.
Having taken honestly around 9,000 aquarium shots I've had plenty of time to work it out.

Here is another one to show the effect.

Nice stuff here. The glass is not there at all, amazing.

Any of the fish jumped out from the sudden flash?

This is why I do not post any of my fish pictures, I am not worthy!

Thanks Bawang and Patrick.

The flash doesn't seem to bother bigger fish at all. Sometimes small fish will dart a little when a flash goes off.

Patrickh, I haven't been hiding them I just haven't had time this summer.

Mike you should you should put one of the M/F lenses on that D3 and take some shots. I have seen some very nice fish pictures from you.
