Ok here are the first from this combo. Nothing super special although the dogs are acting funny Laughing
I like this lens. The copy I have has seen very little use since 1956
It came with my Yashica YF that was new in the box after 50years Shocked
Most of these are taken at F2.8 using the camera in AE and AWB
I have some to learn again with PP especially
I did not load the epson software yet so these are conveted in Aperture II
I don't think the coversions are at all good and I may just start loading 640's until I figure things out.
The docs say I can walk more so hopefully I will have less time here (bored of me yet) and more time shooting.
Look for more to come soon with better results
Smile

Dog captures are really funny, and first one has very nice light!

Surprising thing is that it is not a bad lens at all.
Didn't expect so many dogs in one post. Very Happy
I am a dog lover....

I like those shots sunshine
for the color, sharpness, bokeh, everything perfect
my favorite is your dog drinking beer Very Happy
now we want many shots

Is this really digital?
Curious, somehow the images feel film-like to my eye.
Maybe it's my subconscious since they are rangefinder images Smile

Thanks Guys
It really is a fun camera in use.
The manual shutter re-charge gives you the feeling of a film camera.
Also all the controls are just as they would be on a Voigtlander R2/3/4A.
The shutterspeed dial/AE comp pulls up for film speed change like a film camera
Controls for white balance and file size are also analog.
The only need to enter menus is for non-shooting items (review style, delete, format etc...)
Later I will try with some other lenses including The ZM 2/35 biogon.

@Koji
Yes I like the Yashinon also. Like you I am a Yashica enthusiast. I have this one and a 2.8/50 Yashikor to compare.
If there is some nice light this weekend I will do a tripod test with these two and a 1.5/50 Opton Sonnar
My Contax to M adapter is in need of adjustment but on a tripod I can figure it out using the review screen
I would love to have a G 2/45 Planar as discussed in the other thread It would be my dream normal for this camera even with the crop

Hi Andy.

I am going to Japan this October, get the second copy of G-Planar 45/2
for the conversion. My sister is still in Tokyo so that she can send the modified
lens to Toronto. And will go to Japan April next year again, so there is ample
time to think about.

By the way I found EX $450 G-Biogon 21mm at KEH today (I do not need a finder).
It is indeed tempting. Gahaha Since a brand new Zeiss 21mm/2.8 or 4.5ZM lenses
are around US1,100 without a finder in Tokyo, it is a decision time too for me. Very Happy

It vignettes a lot even you close down, but I like it. It might be a perfect 28mm
lens for M8, so I want RF coupling one.

Koji that is great news
I will try and find a 2/45 before ?October (begining or end of month)?
I sold my G system last year but there are plenty of these 45's to be found
I think I will try the Planar 45 first and if the conversion is good the 90 later
This shot is really impressive from the 21biogon
Orio also has shown some very impressive results from the 21biogon
It is beautiful the vignette does not bother me either
I hope you find a good second copy Smile

I would consider the 2.8/28 Biogon G also.
Cheap, and absolutely fantastic to my opinion.
Much better than the 2.8/28 Distagon.

Hi Andy (am I correct?)

I am leaving Oct/2/2008 for Tokyo, coming back to Oct/28?

We love dogs, but wont make our pet for a fashion statement. Wink
I really like bokeh of this Planar 45/2, but the above is not a good example.

One more photo by G-Planar 45/2.
Sorry for highjacking this thread.
At Casa Blanca Morocco. (Casa/kasa means umbrella in japanese.)

Very nice Koji!
Sometimes I think I would be able to recognize pictures taken with Zeiss rangefinder lenses even in a blindfold test with other photos. They have some thing undefinable and this feeling of absolute perfection of geometrical perspective, even in the photos where the perspective isn't that obvious, such as this photo.

Yes Koji you are right.
These are great the second in particular and don't worry about hijacking it's all in the same subject (sort of)
I hope to get a lens before you go
Are you sure this is not a burden for you?

If it works out I will leave the converted lens with you for a month so you may try it on the MCool to respect you for the trouble Smile

@ Andy
No burden, I like visiting camera shops in Tokyo. Actually I have no other
mission to go there than buying some modern lens(es) and D700, my wife has
business to do as a consultant.

@ Orio
Yes, G-Biogon 28mm is a super lens. Somehow I am not good at
using 28mm, it might work well with M8 (1.3x crop factor).
But I already have a couple of CV 28mm lenses for L/M mount,
also my G-1&2 still work well (don't kwow how long they last).

Koji
What CV 28 do you have?
I have been hearing some good thinks about the new 2/28.
Also I have a friend in Vancuver BC who has some connection with NOS of CV RF lenses (sorry no reflex mounts).
She can get me the 1.9/28 for a nice (very) discount.
I'm not sure what to try for yet.
Klaus also has a nice Rokkor 2.8/28 from the CLE system.
That is an attractive lens but more costly due to it's reputation rather than performance in my view.
Thanks for your input.
This thread is turning into a RF lens thread.
Kind of a fun change of pce for us all (especially me this week). Cool

I would love to have that RD-1 !

I envy you the shutter control, the LCD display on the DSLR's is fiddly and tacky.

I know some little boys who'd be after those doggies in a flash.

PostPosted: Sat Sep 06, 2008 3:47 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Thanks Luis
It is a Fun shooter I look forward to learning how to get the most from it.
The good news for the boys is these three dogs love children (of all ages).
In particular the big goofy old broad Liza the Black ( that is her most famous nickname among many).
She just melts like snow in August around kids. It is the most Beautiful thing to witness. Very Happy

Andy

I have CV Ultron 28/1.9(big) and Color Skopar 28/3.5(small).
Normally faster lens is my fav, but hard to pick which in ordinary use.
The newer Ultorn 28/2 looks like superb performer even at Leica M8
BBS, of course Tom A said the same thing. I may get one someday.

The reason I like faster lens is that I had hard time shooting good
score in old time with ASA 100 films (Ye Olde expression) with
a convenient SLOW zoom lens. I fed up the results, so started
buying faster lenses, and ended up to by F1.2 lenses, this is
a silly money (John Hicks said in english style). Very Happy

I'm lookin forward to seeing some Zeiss ZM and M-Rokkor shots!!

Cheers, Klaus

One more
This time with beautiful light. The last 15 minutes of sun in the day.
This is Deception pass bridge.
The old Yashinon shot at f5.6 looks really pretty nice. I tried some more open and close focus. Nuh uh Sad They were not so great. I need more practice with the RF at close distance Wink

Wow! I wish I had this "business" to do. Wink

@Andy: This Epson is great. I would so much like to have a digital RF. Please, don't stop to show us pics...
